The Roots of Equity Podcast delves into the complexities surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the Caribbean region.
The current theory and practice of DEI is heavily influenced by its European and American realities. In the Caribbean, we have our own rich, unique and diverse cultures. It’s not sufficient to simply “lift and shift” this American and Eurocentric DEI content.
The podcast has a two-fold purpose:
There is currently a dearth of information and resources on how we can use our own unique experiences to create diverse and inclusive spaces. From the history of colonialism to modern-day struggles for equal representation, this podcast will explore the perspectives and insights of thought leaders on the importance of DEI in the Caribbean, uncovering stories and perspectives that challenge and inspire us all.
